About

I am a Developer and Project manager who currently specializes in building black box systems for use in the Futures markets. I spent most of my life building software systems predominately for the energy and commodity markets ranging from national energy Demand Forecasting systems to adaptive trading systems and accurate simulation models. I use a number of Artificial Intellegence (A.I.) techniques which i have built up over the years, but mostly find myself using genetic and evolutionary algorithmns for a lot of the heavy lifting. I have a real passion for the ever changing science and continue to study A.I. both inside and outside of Universities.

As I spent most of my working life in or around trading rooms I am used to being continually bombarded with endless streams of economic data and news feeds, and you can’t but help to start to form opinions on pretty much everything that comes your way. Some of those opinions are stong enough to need release, and so now I have this blog with which to vent those pent up opinions…. hurrah!

Ouside of work I enjoy graphic and web design, and photography, probably because they excercise the use of the other hemisphere of the brain which would otherwise no doubt atrophy given some of the long periods of “number crunching”  I have to endure. Don’t get me wrong programming and project management are both heavy relient on creative thinking for the key parts, but its some of the other bits that get a little monotone in colour.

Sportswise I love a bit of squash, wakeboarding and even engage in a bit of equestrian sport when I can find the time. Sadly I had to stop playing rugby as I kept dislocating my fingers, and I am sure you can appreciate that my career falls apart rather quickly if I can no longer type. Still I enjoy going popping to twickers to watch the odd game!

Well enough about me… even though this is the about-me section so a little bit of conceited writing was in order.

Best Regards,

Luke
